RoboK Secures €1.1M to Enhance UK Logistics with AI

RoboK, an AI startup from the University of Cambridge, has secured €1.1 million in funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). This investment will advance their PALLETS initiative (Proactive AI-powered Solutions for Logistics Efficiency, Transparency, and Safety), aiming to enhance operations in UK ports and warehouses by integrating AI with existing CCTV systems.

Established in 2017 by Hao Zheng, RoboK utilizes computer vision and AI technologies to improve safety and efficiency in industrial settings. The PALLETS project seeks to transform traditional surveillance systems into proactive tools that offer real-time hazard detection and operational insights, thereby reducing risks and optimizing workflows.

“PALLETS aligns perfectly with RoboK’s vision to create safer and more efficient industrial workplaces,” stated Hao Zheng, Founder and CEO of RoboK. “We are honored to collaborate with key industry partners on a project of such strategic importance to the UK economy.”

Key aspects of the PALLETS initiative include:

  • AI-Driven Insights: Enhancing workplace safety and operational transparency through real-time data.

  • Ethical AI Development: As part of UKRI’s ‘Accelerating Trustworthy AI’ program, focusing on advancing reliable AI adoption in critical sectors.

  • Collaborative Innovation: Partnering with entities such as the Port of Dover, Freeport East, and the University of Essex, combining AI expertise with operational knowledge.

The project has already yielded promising results. Mark Burton, Head of IT at the Port of Dover, noted: “We’re pleased with the progress on PALLETS. The early results offer valuable insights into how computer vision can support our operational goals and spark innovative ideas for wider applications.”

David Brown, Chief Executive of The Bristol Port Company, added: “The PALLETS project is helping us gain a deeper understanding of how AI can enhance safety and efficiency. Early results are encouraging, and we look forward to further collaboration.”

Scheduled for completion by March 2025, the project aims to set new standards in logistics management. By addressing safety and efficiency challenges, RoboK seeks to reduce barriers to AI adoption and build trust in automated solutions across the logistics sector.

RoboK specializes in AI-powered solutions to transform industrial environments. Through its innovative approach, the company enhances workplace safety, streamlines operations, and sets benchmarks in automation.
